1) they believe in something inhuman - supposedly superhuman, but still not exactly human. They may try to explain this way or other, but in the end their divine person is not a man.
2) their allegiance is not to their near and dear, nor to humanity, nor to the planet - they may go against any of that if they believe it will serve their faith. Worse, they think that serving their faith is enough, everything else is supposed to follow from that.
3) their logic can't be trusted. They may stick to their own set of axioms, and just walk over their contradictions. They may apply this half-system of half-logic in real life as well.
4) they divide the humankind into their co-believers and everyone else. they also tend to think that there's something wrong with everyone else. This feeling may go from mere avoidance of contact to hatred, or worse, to the wish to make everyone one of their own.
5) they often claim that they are inspired, spiritual etc - as if everyone else is not. While they may cede some ground to other believers, they still find the unbelievers lacking and/or spiritually inferior.
While any candidate may prove to be an exception from all of these, the past has shown that they all sooner or later succumb to one of the aforementioned, forgive the expression, sins. Because of that, our Movement submits this RFC to the Earth Assembly to ban believers from applying to any position of power. The currently incumbent believers may voluntarily resign, or wait their terms out. They need to be fully aware that the whole world is watching their every move. There are already 254 ongoing trials for treason against such persons. This RFC also provides some sort of amnesty for those who resign, depending on when.
This is an excerpt from a SF novel that I will never write, or if it's considered as a piece of the one I've started writing, that I will never finish. The above is pure recycled bytes.
