What do you mean "my computer is running slow"? If it's running, then it's fast. If it's slow, it's walking.
Try to walk. Try to run. Feel the difference.
Next time, say "my computer is walking".

Ummm, then how do you cope with 'running out of steam/gas/whatever'? Running out means getting out of some room/building/facility/whatever by running, right? So by that, we have to agree that running out of gas means, ummmm, running out of pool of gas?

Easy, just backtrack your steps to the point where you ran into it :).
