Back to my pet project. I noticed that the web form doesn't refresh after saving. Why should it refresh if it submitted successfully? Simply because for some controls I have combos and textboxes overlapping, and I show the textbox in viewing, and the combo in editing. Once submitted, the combo is hidden and the textbox comes forth.

Serbian alphabet has 30 characters, each representing one sound. It is, thus, as phonetic as it gets. There is no spelling whatsoever, question "how do you pronounce/spell your last name" doesn't exist.

Yet another time the msi installer has taken me an hour. Something somewhere overwrote a dll, or replaced a path to it with an encrypted one, as described here. Solution? Simple: reinstall the app which stopped working.

The distinction between binary and not binary probably came from the same mindset which thinks that percentages are integers, and that percentages and fractions have nothing in common.

Let's face it - how is a value decided to be binary? The most common test is "it displays little squares when I open it in Notepad". Why not call it printables vs nonprintables?

It began with the simple need to look up a phone number of a friend. I have bookmarked the search page ages ago, this one, which was named "whitepages.onpalm" - the "onpalm" part meaning probably nothing in English, but the phrase is a good fit for what it offered. If something is "kao na dlanu" (as if on [your] palm), than it's easy to see, in plain sight.

Twelve years ago we landed at JFK. Started from Budapest, because that's where we had to go for the visa and the airplane. The embassy in Belgrade was closed, and no international flights operated from Belgrade. As usual, Skype just installed a new version on me. Somewhere along the way, probably during one of the reinstalls of everything that Windowses treat me to, the loading of new versions was set on autopilot, and it doesn't even ask anymore, just tells me that it loaded the new version.
